CCHA play in full swing this weekend

Farmington Hills, Mich. – CCHA play begins for eight teams this weekend with four other squads playing in their second league series of the season. Miami, Michigan State, Lake Superior and Ohio State have each picked up a win and sit at 1-1 in the conference.

All teams will be in action Friday, Oct. 30 and Saturday, Oct. 31.

Miami maintained its No. 1-ranking in the nation despite losing its first game of the season to MSU on Saturday. The RedHawks will take to the road this weekend for a series at Northern Michigan. The Wildcats were 3-1-1 against Miami last season with all games being played in Oxford, Ohio. The final two of those wins knocked the RedHawks out of the CCHA Tournament in the second round. The puck will drop at 7:35 p.m. Friday and Saturday nights.

Michigan State will be looking to hand another team its first loss of the season when the Spartans welcome 4-0 Western Michigan to Munn Ice Arena Friday night. MSU will then travel to Kalamazoo Saturday for a 7:35 p.m. start in the second game of the only home-and-home series of the weekend. Friday’s contest will be televised on Comcast Television, channel 900.

Lake Superior will play its second home series of the CCHA season by hosting Michigan. The Wolverines swept both games from LSSU last season, winning 6-2 and 2-1, at Yost Ice Arena. The Lakers hold a 22-16-3 all-time record at home versus Michigan.

Ohio State, which split its series at LSSU last weekend, will be on the road again when they visit Notre Dame. The Buckeyes and Irish split the only two meetings between the teams last year. Friday’s game will begin at 7:35 p.m., followed by a 5:05 p.m. start Saturday.

The conference’s other two remaining undefeated squads, Alaska and Nebraska-Omaha, will both host their conference-opening series this weekend. The Nanooks will face 5-1 Ferris State and the Mavericks welcome Bowling Green to the Qwest Center. Friday’s game in Omaha will begin at 7:35 p.m. with an 8:05 p.m. start scheduled for Saturday.

All games begin at 7:05 p.m.  local time unless noted otherwise
