CCHA Regular-Season Championship Team. In regular-season competition, each CCHA team shall accumulate points from each CCHA contest (i.e., a contest between teams representing two CCHA member institutions), receiving three points for each game won in regulation time or overtime, two points for each game won in a shootout, one point for each game lost in a shootout and no points for each game lost in regulation time or overtime. The team accumulating the greatest number of points in regular-season CCHA contests shall be the CCHA Champion, and shall receive the CCHA Championship Trophy. If two or more teams are tied for the Championship, they shall be considered co-champions. The CCHA Championship Trophy shall be awarded, and positions for the CCHA Tournament determined, according to the following procedure:
a) Shootout results will not be used to help break ties in the standings for the CCHA Championship Trophy and playoff seeding.
b) The recipient of the CCHA Championship Trophy and seeding for the CCHA Tournament shall be determined by the greater number of CCHA regular-season wins;
c) If not determined by (a) or (b), the recipient of the CCHA Championship Trophy and seeding for the CCHA Tournament shall be the team with the best regular-season winning percentage against the other co-champion(s);
d) If not determined by (a) or (b) or (c), the recipient of the CCHA Championship Trophy and seeding for the CCHA Tournament shall be determined by comparison of total goals for and against each team in contests between (among) co-champion(s) in regular-season play;
e) If not determined by (a) or (b) or (c) or d, the recipient of the CCHA Championship Trophy and seeding for the CCHA Tournament shall be determined by comparison of the winning percentagesof the co-champions against the remaining highest ranked CCHA teams, successively, until the determination is accomplished or all CCHA regular-season contests have been considered;
f) If not determined by (a) or (b) or (c) or (d) or (e), the recipient of the CCHA Championship Trophy and seeding for the CCHA Tournament shall be determined by the flip of a coin.
