Bowling Green- Former Falcon goaltender Eddie Powers was recognized by the Bowling Green Youth Hockey Assocation as a part of USA Hockey’s Hockey Weekend Across America for his contributions to the game. Powers, a member of the 1984 national championship team, is a longtime coach and association member in his hometown.

Ferris State- The Bulldogs improved to 3-0 in shootouts this season with Saturday’s four-round 2-1 decision at Ohio State. Sophomore defenseman Chad Billins notched the decisive goal as he did in the league-record 22-skater shootout win at Miami on Nov. 14.

Lake Superior- The Lakers, who travel to Miami following a bye week, last defeated the RedHawks in regular-season play on Nov. 10, 2006. They also swept them in the playoffs that season to earn a trip to Joe Louis Arena for the CCHA Championship.

Miami-The RedHawks extended their conference unbeaten streak to 18 games (14-0-4) with Saturday’s 2-1 win over Western Michigan. They need just five more points to gain a first-round playoff bye and could assure that scenario as early as Friday depending on other results.

Michigan-The Wolverines will play in their second outdoor game, the Camp Randall Hockey Classic, on Saturday at Wisconsin. U-M just recently scheduled its third outdoor game; "The Big Chill at the Big House" will be played at Michigan Stadium on Dec. 11, 2010, vs. Michigan State.

Michigan State-Defensemen Torey Krug led all CCHA freshmen in January scoring with a 2-6-8 line. He is the conference’s top-scoring freshman rearguard (3-13-16) and is tied for second nationally among rookie blueliners.

Nebraska-Omaha-The Mavericks earned their first win at Notre Dame since Feb. 5, 2005, when they beat the Fighting Irish, 5-3, on Friday night.  The win snapped a six-game losing streak against Notre Dame and a six-game losing streak at the Joyce Center.

Northern Michigan-Junior forward Greger Hanson led all CCHA players in January scoring with a 5-7-12 line. He had points in seven of nine outings and three multi-point games including a 2-2-4 effort in a 6-0 win over Bowling Green on Jan. 15.

Notre Dame- The "Giving The Shirts Off Our Back," charity jersey auction by the Irish on Saturday for the Wounded Warriors Project raised $41,604. Alternate captain Kevin Deeth’s jersey commanded $1,575 in an on-line auction.

Ohio State-Led by a power play that went 11-for-38 (28.9 percent), the Buckeyes were 4-1-1 in January. They swept Bowling Green, split at No. 10 Michigan State and posted a win and a tie vs. No. 10 Ferris State at home this past weekend.

Western Michigan- Despite 86 saves from senior goalie Riley Gill, the Broncos were swept at Miami, 4-1 and 2-1. They are 0-4-0, and have been outscored 16-3, in four games at the new Steve Cady Arena.

CCHA- With Miami sporting a 1.64 team goals-against average, the CCHA is on pace to have the team with the best defensive record for four straight seasons. The RedHawks were also tops in 2007-08 (1.86) while Notre Dame was the tightest defensively last season (1.73) and in 2006-07 (1.67).
