Alaska-The Nanooks, with a weekend sweep of visiting Lake Superior State, finished with an 11-9-8 record in conference action to post consecutive above .500 seasons for the first time in their 15-year history in the CCHA.
Bowling Green- Junior goalie Nick Eno made 59 saves in a win and tie/shootout win against visiting Notre Dame, and also earned his fourth career assist on the winning goal in Friday’s 4-3 victory.
Ferris State-The 19-11-4 Bulldogs need one more victory for the seventh 20-win season in program history and the first since their 2002-03 regular-season championship campaign.
Lake Superior- The Lakers finish the regular season against cluster opponent and Upper Peninsula-rival Northern Michigan. LSSU defeated NMU twice this season, 5-1 and 6-3, to lead the Father Cappo Cup series by seven goals.
Miami- Saturday’s 4-2 loss to visiting Nebraska-Omaha snapped an eight-game winning streak, 11-game undefeated streak and 23-game conference unbeaten streak (19-0-4) for the regular-season champion RedHawks.
Michigan- Junior forward Carl Hagelin continues to be a model of consistency for the Wolverines, having tallied a point in nine straight games (2-8-10). U-M’s top overall scorer (14-23-37), Hagelin had a goal and an assist in a split with NMU.
Michigan State- The Spartans snapped a four-game winless streak (0-3-1) and earned a weekend split against Ferris State with Saturday’s 3-2 home-ice win over the Bulldogs. They need one point from their final two games with Bowling Green to secure a first-round playoff bye.
Nebraska-Omaha-The Mavericks beat No. 1 Miami, 4-2, on Saturday for their first victory over the RedHawks in 13 tries (0-11-1) and their first win over the nation’s top-ranked team since beating Michigan State in October of 2001.
Northern Michigan- The Wildcats suffered their third loss of 2010 Saturday, 5-4 at Michigan. They are 8-3-4 since the calendar went into January and are averaging 3.4 goals-per game and surrendering 2.3 goals-per game.
Notre Dame- The Irish had three injured players return for a loss and tie/shootout loss at Bowling Green. Sophomore Billy Maday had been out since Jan. 10, senior Christiaan Minella went out Jan. 15 and junior Ian Cole was out of action since Jan. 23.
Ohio State- Junior forward Patrick Schafer played in his 100th career game Friday against Western Michigan and celebrated with the winning goal in a 3-1 decision at Western Michigan. All three of his goals this season are game-winning goals.
Western Michigan- Senior Riley Gill moved into third place in games played by a Broncos goalie with his 107th appearance in Saturday’s tie/shootout loss against Ohio State. He can’t finish higher than third with Glenn Healy ahead of him in second place with 132 games played and Bill Horn in first place with 136.
CCHA- Three former CCHA players, all from Bowling Green, have captured Olympic gold in men’s hockey. Ken Morrow and Mark Wells were members of the 1980 U.S. ‘Miracle on Ice’ squad with Rob Blake a member of Canada’s winning entry in 2002 in Salt Lake City.
