Alaska-Nanook freshman forward Andy Taranto remains tops in overall scoring amongst CCHA freshman, despite having played as many as four fewer games as some of his closest pursuers. Taranto has a 8-14-22 scoring line through 18 games.
 
Bowling Green-Sunday’s game against Clarkson featured a coaching matchup of Bowling Green hockey alumni. Falcon head coach Dennis Williams played for BGSU from 1997-2001, while Clarkson head coach George Roll was a member of the 1984 national championship team.
 
Ferris State- Ferris State had its 10-game unbeaten streak snapped with a loss to Yale, 6-1, in the Badger Showdown.  It was the Bulldogs’ longest unbeaten streak since the 2002-03 season when they captured the CCHA regular-season title.
 
Lake Superior-The Lakers extended their winning streak to six and unbeaten streak to eight with a pair of wins at Robert Morris, 7-6 and 2-0.  It marks the Lakers’ longest winning streak since 1996-97 when they won 10 straight games.
 
Miami- The RedHawks return to action for their first game since Dec. 12 when they take on Robert Morris of College Hockey America at Mellon Arena, home of the reigning Stanley Cup champion Pittsburgh Penguins.
 
Michigan- Junior forward Carl Hagelin led Michigan with a goal and three assists at the Great Lakes Invitational. The Swede is tops on the Wolverine roster in points (20), goals (10) and assists (10-tie). He has at least a point in 14 out of 20 games.
 
Michigan State- Michigan State captured its 12th Great Lakes Invitational title, defeating Michigan Tech in the opening round, 10-1, then beating Rensselaer in the championship game, 6-1.
 
Nebraska-Omaha- Nebraska-Omaha head coach Dean Blais has led the United States squad into the gold-medal game at the World Junior Championships. The Americans upset Sweden on Sunday, 5-2, to advance to Tuesday’s final against Canada.
 
Northern Michigan- The Wildcats captured their first in-season tournament title since the 2001 Everblades College Classic by defeating Clarkson, 4-0, and host Minnesota, 4-2, for the Dodge Holiday Classic crown.
 
Notre Dame- Notre Dame captured the Shillelagh Tournament title for the second straight season. The host Fighting Irish defeated Colgate in the opening round, 5-2, then defeated North Dakota in a shootout after playing to a tie, 3-3, with the Fighting Sioux.
 
Ohio State-Ryan Kesler, who played for the Buckeyes in 2002-03, was named to the United States Olympic Team. A two-time participant in the World Junior Championship and a U.S. National Team Development Team product, he is believed to be the first former Buckeye to play for the US team.
 
Western Michigan- Western Michigan has failed to score a goal in three consecutive home games after playing to a scoreless tie and losing to Bemidji State, 3-0, in a weekend series at Lawson Ice Arena. The Broncos last scored at home in their Dec. 5 game with Alaska.
 
CCHA- Four CCHA alums, goaltender Ryan Miller (Michigan State), defensemen Mike Komisarek (Michigan) and Jack Johnson (Michigan), and forward Ryan Kesler (Ohio State) were named to 2010 United States Olympic Team. They join Canadian defensemen Duncan Keith (Michigan State) and Dan Boyle (Miami) as CCHA alums competing in Vancouver this coming February.
