LSSU, MIA, MSU and NMU Earn Wins

FARMINGTON HILLS, Mich. – Lake Superior, Michigan State and Miami all collected wins to earn splits while Northern Michigan topped Michigan to collect four points on the weekend.
Big Rapids, Mich. – Sophomore forward Austin Czarnik scored the game-winning goal for Miami and secured the win with a short-handed, empty-net goal as the RedHawks topped Ferris State, 4-2, to split the series. Freshmen forwards Kevin Morris and Sean Kuraly also scored for Miami. Sophomore forward Justin Buzzeo and senior forward Travis Ouellette scored for the Bulldogs, with Ouellette’s tally coming on the power play. Freshman goaltender Jay Williams backstopped the RedHawks to the win by stopping 24-of-26 shots. At the other end of the ice, Ferris State sophomore goaltender C.J. Motte stopped 36 shots.
Bowling Green, Ohio – Michigan State freshman forward Matt DeBlouw notched a 2-2-4 scoring chart, helping the Spartans to a 6-1 win over Bowling Green to split the series. Sophomore forward Matt Berry also tallied four points for Michigan State, scoring a power-play goal and adding three assists. Michigan State junior forwards Lee Reimer and Greg Wolfe and freshman forward Michael Ferrantino all scored with the man advantage. The lone goal for Bowling Green came from junior forward Camden Wojtala. Junior goaltender Will Yanakeff turned aside 18 shots for Michigan State, while Bowling Green senior goaltender Andrew Hammond and freshman goaltender Tommy Burke combined to make 17 saves.
Marquette, Mich. – Northern Michigan sophomore forward Reed Seckel scored twice as the Wildcats held off a late rally by Michigan to earn a 4-3 win. Freshman forward Cohen Adair notched his fifth goal of the season for Northern Michigan and senior defenseman Scott Macaulay rounded out the scoring for the Wildcats. Senior forward Kevin Lynch and junior defenseman Mac Bennett both notched a goal and an assist for Michigan and senior forward A.J. Treais scored a power-play goal. Northern Michigan junior goaltender Jared Coreau stopped 26 shots while Michigan freshman goaltender Steve Racine made 18 saves.
Fairbanks, Alaska – Lake Superior junior forward Dan Radke found the back of the net twice as the Lakers defeated Alaska, 4-2, to earn the weekend split. Sophomore defenseman Kevin Czuczman and senior forward Domenic Monardo both tallied 1-1-2 scoring lines for Lake Superior and freshman defenseman Eric Drapluk assisted on two goals. For the Nanooks, senior forward Andy Taranto scored both goals. Lake Superior junior goaltender Kevin Murdock stopped 48 shots while Alaska sophomore goaltender Sean Cahill made 21 saves.
