Miami Blanks Ohio State at Three Rivers Classic

FARMINGTON HILLS, Mich. – Miami shut out Ohio State 1-0 to advance to the Three Rivers Classic Championship game, while Ferris State fell to Cornell at the Florida College Classic.

Estero, Fla. – Ferris State allowed four straight goals and was unable to recover, falling to Cornell, 5-3, in the Florida College Classic. Freshman forward Kenny Babinski scored for Ferris State just 1:22 into the game. Cornell responded with four straight goals. Freshman forward Dakota Klecha and sophomore defenseman Simon Denis both found the back of the net for the Bulldogs to bring them within one goal, but that was as close as they would come, eventually giving up an empty-net goal to seal the victory for Cornell. Senior goaltender C.J. Motte and freshman goaltender Charles Williams combined to make 25 saves for Ferris State. Denis also notched an assist for a two-point night.

Pittsburgh, Penn. – Miami freshman goaltender Jay Williams stopped all 29 shots he faced, backstopping the RedHawks to a 1-0 shutout win over Ohio State in the Three Rivers Classic. Senior forward Curtis McKenzie scored the lone goal for Miami, with sophomore forwards Jimmy Mullin and Austin Czarnik picking up the assists. In goal for Ohio State, senior goaltender Brady Hjelle made 25 saves. Miami will take on Robert Morris in the Three Rivers Classic championship game tomorrow night.
