Big Ten Announces Inaugural Hockey Schedule

The Big Ten office has announced the dates and opponents for the inaugural season of Big Ten men's ice hockey. The Big Ten Conference begins play in 2013-14, with each of the six schools playing a 20-game schedule, taking on each opponent at home as well as on the road.


Anastos Announces Three More for Fall '13

Michigan State head coach Tom Anastos has announced that three more players will be joining the Spartan hockey program for the fall of 2013. Forwards Thomas Ebbing, Villiam Haag and defenseman Chris Knudson will join previously-signed forwards Joe Cox, JT Stenglein and Mackenzie MacEachern as the newcomers for the 2013-14 season.


Petry, Cole to Represent Team USA at World Championships

Former MSU blueliner Jeff Petry has been named to the 2013 U.S. Men's National Team that will compete at the IIHF Men's World Championship. Danton Cole will serve as an assistant coach.


Spartans Begin Stanley Cup Quest

Six Spartans playing in the National Hockey League, as well as two assistant coaches, turn their attention to the post-season as the NHL playoffs begin on Tuesday. John-Michael Liles (Toronto), Duncan Keith (Chicago), David Booth (Vancouver), Tim Kennedy (San Jose) and Justin Abdelkader and Drew Miller (Detroit) begin their team's quest for Lord Stanley's Cup.


Playoffs Underway for Several Spartans

Several Spartans are currently representing their current professional teams in the battle for the AHL's Calder Cup, or in the run to the ECHL's Kelly Cup, which is well underway. In all, 12 players in the AHL and ECHL are involved in post-season action with their teams.


Hildebrand Takes Top Honors at Spartan Hockey Banquet

Freshman Jake ;Hildebrand (Butler, Pa.) and senior Chris ;Forfar (Darien, Ill.) each took home two team awards as the Michigan State hockey team officially closed the books on the 2012-13 season at the annual team banquet on Wednesday, April 17. Spartan great and current US National Team Development Program U-17 coach Danton Cole was honored as the program's "Distinguished Spartan".

Danton Cole to Be Honored as Distinguished Spartan

Former Spartan standout, Stanley Cup winner, and current USA Hockey National Team Development Program coach Danton Cole will be given the Distinguished Spartan Award at the hockey program's annual post-season banquet. The banquet will be held at Eagle Eye Golf Club on April 17. Tickets are $35, and still available at the Spartan Ticket Office.

Spartan Fall, 4-1, In CCHA Clincher

Michigan State's hockey season came to a close on Sunday night in Miami, as the Spartans fell to the top-seeded RedHawks, 4-1 , in the fourth and deciding game of the CCHA quarterfinal series. The Spartans conclude the season with a 14-25-3 overall record.


Miami Evens CCHA Series With 4-1 Win

Miami scored a pair of first-period goals to overcome an early deficit and added a tally in the second and third periods to post a 4-1 victory over Michigan State in game two of the CCHA quarterfinal series. Michigan State's goal was scored by freshman Matt ;DeBlouw, and classmate Jake ;Hildebrand made 33 saves. The RedHawk win forced a third and deciding game in the series, which will be played on Sunday evening at 7 p.m.


Shutout of Miami Gives MSU 1-0 Series Lead

Jake ;Hildebrand pitched a 34-save shutout - his second in three weeks - and visiting Michigan State posted a 3-0 road victory at No. 3 Miami on Friday night in Oxford, Ohio. The Spartans take a 1-0 lead in the best-of-three quarterfinal series, which continues on Saturday evening at 7 p.m. at Cady Arena. Matt ;DeBlouw, Matt ;Berry, and Kevin ;Walrod had the scores for the Spartans.


Three Spartans On CCHA All-Time Team

Continuing to `Celebrate The Legacy' in its' 42nd and final season, the Central Collegiate Hockey Association (CCHA) has released the league's All-Time Team to honor the league's top performers from its 42 seasons. Three Michigan State players make the list - Hobey Baker Memorial Award winners Kip Miller and Ryan Miller, while John-Michael Liles was a second team honoree.
