Irish Fall For Second Night At Western Michigan, 4-1

After putting in a lackluster performance in Friday night's 7-2 loss at Western Michigan, Notre Dame did everything possible on Saturday night except win the game. The Irish ran into red-hot goaltender Riley Gill and the Broncos got a hat trick from Derek Roehl, on the way to a 4-1 win over Notre Dame in front of 3,171 at Lawson Arena on Saturday.


Irish Drop Road Decision At Western Michigan, 7-2

The Notre Dame hockey team entered the month of February looking to improve its standing in the CCHA playoff chase. The Irish entered Friday night's game versus Western Michigan tied for fifth and just two points behind fourth-place Michigan.

The Notre Dame hockey team will return to its hockey roots on Friday, February 12 when the Irish move practice from the Joyce Center to "Practice On The Pond," at Merrifield Park in Mishawaka, Ind. The practice will run from 4:30 to 6:00 p.m. and is free and open to the public.

Senior Center Kevin Deeth Named One Of 18 Nominees For College Hockey's Humanitarian Award

Notre Dame hockey senior alternate captain Kevin Deeth (Gig Harbor, Wash.) has been selected as one of 18 nominees on the national level for the College Hockey Humanitarian Award, presented by BNY Mellon Wealth Management. The award is presented every year to college hockey's finest citizen for their contributions to society in all areas.


Andy Slaggert To Receive American Hockey Coaches Association's Terry Flanagan Award

Notre Dame associate hockey coach, Andy Slaggert, has been named the winner of the American Hockey Coaches Association's Terry Flanagan Award for 2010. The announcement was made by the AHCA officers and governors this past weekend. Slaggert, now in his 17th season with the Irish as a coach is one of seven major award winners and will receive the Flanagan Award at the AHCA Convention held in Naples, Fla. from April 29-May 2, 2010.


Irish Hold On For 3-2 Win Over Nebraska-Omaha

For Notre Dame that might just be what the doctor ordered on Saturday night at the Joyce Center as the Irish scored three unanswered goals through the first period and held off the Nebraska-Omaha Mavericks late rally for a 3-2 win in front of a sold out Joyce Center crowd of 2,857.

A Notre Dame hockey alumnus has announced that he will match the proceeds of the Notre Dame hockey team's jersey auction - up to $10,000 - following this weekend's fundraiser - "Giving The Shirts Off Their Backs" - to benefit the Wounded Warrior Project. The alum, who wishes to remain anonymous, notified the athletics department of his intentions on Thursday afternoon.

Irish To Give The Shirts Off Their Backs This Weekend Versus Nebraska-Omaha

Notre Dame returns home to the Joyce Center this weekend with a pair of games versus Nebraska-Omaha on Jan. 29-30 with faceoff both night set for 8:06 p.m. Both games will be televised live by CBS College Sports with Matt Shepard and Dave Starman calling the action. This is the final home series of the season for the Irish who will play five of their final six games in February on the road. Notre Dame has gone 2-0-2 over the past two weekends getting a win and a tie versus both Michigan State and Lake Superior State. The Irish are 11-10-7 overall and are 7-7-6-2 in the CCHA, good for 29 points and sixth place in the conference race.


Irish Hockey Players To Give The Shirts Off Their Backs To Benefit Wounded Warrior Project

The Notre Dame hockey team will literally be giving "The Shirts Off Their Backs," immediately following the Jan. 30 game with Nebraska-Omaha at the Joyce Center. The Fighting Irish will play that weekend series in specially designed jerseys that honor Hockey Helpers and the Wounded Warrior Project. The jerseys will only be worn for the two-game series with the Mavericks and will then be auctioned off to the highest bidders to benefit the Wounded Warrior Project.

The Central Collegiate Hockey Association announced today that two Notre Dame hockey players have been selected players of the week for their play during the Lake Superior State series on Jan. 22-23. Senior defenseman Kyle Lawson (Sr., New Hudson, Mich.) was named the CCHA defensive player of the week for the second consecutive week and the third time this season while freshman goaltender Mike Johnson (Verona, Wis.) was the league's goaltender of the week for the first time in his career.


Irish And Lakers Battle To A 1-1 Tie; Lake Superior wins shootout, 1-0

After having a fairly easy night on Friday night in Notre Dame's 6-1 win over Lake Superior State with 26 saves, freshman goaltender Mike Johnson came up big on Saturday night, stopping a career-high 45 shots as the Irish battled the Lakers to a 1-1 tie at Taffy Abel Arena. Lake Superior picks up the extra point in the standings by winning the shootout, 1-0, in three rounds.


Irish Offense Comes To Life In 6-1 Win At Lake Superior State

Calle Ridderwall recorded his second hat trick of the season, getting three goals in the second period, while Ryan Thang, Ben Ryan and Patrick Gaul scored single goals to help Notre Dame defeat Lake Superior State, 6-1, at Taffy Abel Arena. Steven Kaunisto had the lone Laker goal on the night.
