Irish Battle Sixth-Ranked Michigan State To A 1-1 Tie

Two of the nation's top teams - Notre Dame and Michigan State - got together on Thursday night at Munn Arena and battled to a 1-1 overtime time. The Irish then picked up an extra point in the CCHA standings by winning the shoot out, 2-1, as Ben Ryan and Dan Kissel scored for Notre Dame.

The Irish and the Spartans will face each other in the first of two home-and-home series this week. On Thur., Nov. 19, the two teams will meet in East Lansing, Mich., at Munn Arena in a 7:05 p.m. game. After a two-day break, the series resumes in Ft. Wayne, Ind., for a Notre Dame "home" game at the Allen County War Memorial Coliseum on Sun., Nov. 22 at 4:05 p.m.

Patrick Gaul is a sophomore center on Notre Dame's hockey team from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Prior to coming to Notre Dame he spent two seasons with the US National Team Developmental Program. He has three sisters and one brother who played collegiate hockey at Dartmouth.

Irish And Northern Michigan Battle To A 2-2 Tie; Notre Dame wins shoot out, 2-1

Notre Dame and Northern Michigan battled to a 2-2 overtime tie on Sunday afternoon at the Joyce Center with the Irish picking up the extra point in the CCHA standings by winning the shoot out, 2-1.Junior right wing Billy Maday keyed a Notre Dame comeback from a 2-0 second-period deficit, scoring twice in the game and then added one of two Irish goals in the shoot out. Linemate Calle Ridderwall scored the winning goal in the shoot out victory. The Wildcats got second-period goals from Ray Kaunisto and Jared Brown 42 seconds apart to build the 2-0 lead.


Irish Fall To Northern Michigan At Home, 3-2

For the first 10 games of the 2009-10 season, scoring goals has been a struggle for Notre Dame as the Irish averaged just 2.30 goals-per-game. Despite out shooting Northern Michigan on Saturday night at the Joyce Center, 38-18, the Irish scored just twice to fall to the Wildcats, 3-2 in front of a sell out crowd of 2,721.

Notre Dame returns home from its trip to Alaska to face the Northern Michigan Wildcats in a Saturday-Sunday series on Nov. 14-15. Saturday's game will start at 5:05 p.m. (this is a time change from the original 7:05 p.m. start time) and then Sunday's game will drop the puck at 4:05 p.m. The Irish are coming off a weekend split in Fairbanks where they won the opening contest, 3-2, and then lost a 3-1 decision on Saturday night. Notre Dame brings a 5-4-1 mark into the series with Northern Michigan and is 2-1-1-0 in the CCHA, good for seven points in the standings.


Irish Drop 3-1 Decision At Alaska

For the first 40 minutes of Saturday night's game at the Carlson Center, the Notre Dame Fighting Irish controlled play against Alaska, out shooting the Nanooks by a 20-13 edge. The final 20 minutes were another matter as Alaska scored three times to wipe out a 1-0 Notre Dame lead to give the Nanooks a 3-1 win over the Irish.

Notre Dame enters the weekend with a 4-3-1 overall record and is 1-0-1-0 in the CCHA, good for four points in the league standings.

The start time for the Notre Dame - Northern Michigan hockey game on Saturday, Nov. 14 at the Joyce Center rink has been moved up to 5:05 p.m. (EST). The game originally was scheduled to start at 7:05 p.m. (EST) and now avoids Notre Dame's 8:00 p.m. football kickoff at Pittsburgh on ABC Sports that was announced earlier this week.
