ROOKIE OF THE YEAR: Freshman David Wohlberg of Michigan (left) with CCM-RBK’s Andy Rymsha. Wohlberg tied for first among rookies with 23 points in 27 games.
SCHOLAR-ATHLETE OF THE YEAR: Jordan Pearce of Notre Dame (right) was named the CCHA Scholar-Athlete of the Year. The CCHA Scholar-Athlete of the Year trophy is awarded to an individual who combines excellence in the classroom with excellence on the ice.
LEADING SCORER: Senior Patrick Galivan of Western Michigan (left) with Christine Szarek of Warrior Hockey. Galivan topped the scoring chart in the CCHA with 14 goals and 22 assists for 36 points in league play.
BEST OFFENSIVE DEFENSEMAN: Sophomore Erik Gustafsson of Northern Michigan (right) with former Laker Keith Aldridge. Gustafsson led all CCHA
defensemen in points with 25 and finished tied for the
lead in assists with 22.
BEST DEFENSIVE FORWARD: Michigan’s Tim Miller (left) with Lisa Giles of Fox Sports Detroit. Miller helped the Wolverines tie for first in scoring defense, only allowing 1.82 goals per
game.
BEST DEFENSIVE DEFENSEMAN: Junior Kyle Lawson of Notre Dame (right) with former Bronco Brent Brekke. Lawson was +7 in league play for the Fighting
Irish, who allowed only 1.86 goals-per game on the season.
RBK BEST GOALTENDER: Senior Chad Johnson of Alaska (right) with University of Alaska athletic director Forrest Karr. Johnson posted a 1.69 average and .939 save percentage in
becoming the first Nanook netminder to capture the award.
COACH OF THE YEAR: CBS College Sports color commentator Dave Starman with Alaska head coach Dallas Ferguson (left). Ferguson was recognized as the CCHA Coach of the Year in his first season as the head coach of the Alaska Nanooks. Picked to finish in 11th place in the preseason polls, Alaska finished fourth in the CCHA on the strength of one of the most daunting defenses in the nation.
