Andy Greene named RBC Finanical Group CCHA Player of the Month

FARMINGTON HILLS, Mich. -- The Central Collegiate Hockey Association announced today that senior defenseman Andy Greene of Miami University has been named the RBC Financial Group CCHA Player of the Month for January. The 23-year old from Trenton, Mich., led the RedHawks in scoring during January, recording two goals and eight assists in nine games as the RedHawks posted a 6-2-1 record. With seven goals and 16 assists, he paces all CCHA defensemen with 23 points. The 5-foot-11, 190-pound defenseman earned CCHA Defenseman of the Week honors in back-to-back weeks during the month. He earned accolades for a five-assist performance against Western Michigan University on Jan. 20-21. He helped set up both goals on Jan. 21 when the RedHawks scored twice in the final 22 seconds for an improbable 4-3 victory over the Broncos, 4-3. Greene repeated as CCHA Defenseman of the Week with a goal and an assist to go along with a +2 rating during a road sweep of Ferris State on Jan. 27-28. Greene, who was named the CCHA Offensive Defenseman of the Year in 2004-05, has captained Miami to its first-ever No. 1 ranking in the national polls. He currently ranks seventh nationally in points-per-game by defensemen.
