Alaska Fairbanks- The Nanooks had nine freshmen in the lineup as they went 6-for-9 on the power play in a 7-4 exhibition win over Grant MacEwen College of Alberta. Senior captain Jared Sylvestre fired a hat trick while highly-touted rookie Kyle Greentree chipped in a pair of goals.

Bowling Green- Junior forward Bryan Dobek is wearing the No. 7 this season. It's the same number his father, Bob, wore from 1972-75 for the Falcons when he was a two-time All-CCHA First Team selection.

Ferris State- The Bulldogs have surrendered six shorthanded goals in their last three season-opening series. Colgate got one in each win this past weekend, Western Michigan had one in a win last year and St. Cloud counted two shorties in a two-game split in 2002.

Lake Superior- The Lakers' 15-1 exhibition win over Toronto marked their biggest single-game offensive output since a 15-2 win over St. Scholastica in October of 1979. Games against Canadian opponents do not count in official NCAA statistics.

Miami- Special teams were extra special for the RedHawks in wins over Boston University and Northeastern of Hockey East at the Lefty McFadden Invitation. Miami went 6-for-17 on the power play while penalty killers were perfect in 18 opposition chances.

Michigan- Head coach Red Berenson needs three wins to take over sole possession of 10th place on college hockey's all-time wins list. He earned his 534th career victory on Saturday when the Wolverines beat Boston University, 7-2.

Michigan State- Jim Slater is just the fifth Spartan to wear the "C" for two-straight years in 2004-05. Slater sits in some pretty good company as Tyler Harlton was the last Spartan to wear the "C" for two seasons (1997 and 1998). Don McSween (1986 and 1987), Mark Hamway (1982 and 1983), Bob Jasson (1956 and 1957) and Bill Blair (1950 and 1951) are the only other Spartans to be multiple-year captains.

Nebraska-Omaha- UNO, which has hosted the Maverick Stampede for five years, won the event for the first time on Sunday with a 4-3 win over Merrimack of Hockey East in the final. Freshman forward Bill Thomas garnered MVP honors with two goals, including a shorthanded game-winner, in the championship contest.

Northern Michigan- The Wildcats' shutout loss to York University, 1-0, on Saturday was their first exhibition loss since October 26, 1985 when Team Canada defeated them, 7-5.

Notre Dame- The Irish extended their regular-season, home-ice unbeaten streak to 15 games (12-0-3) with Thursday's 2-2 tie with Minnesota-Duluth. The Joyce Center streak was halted the following night when the WCHA's Bulldogs posted a 4-1 win.

Ohio State- Rod Pelley was injured in the Buckeyes' 5-1 loss to New Hampshire on Saturday and did not play against St. Cloud on Sunday. It was the first college game the junior forward has missed, and ending his streak of consecutive games played at 86.

OSU junior forward Rod Pelley's streak of 86 consecutive games played was broken Sunday after suffering an injury against New Hampshire Saturday.

Western Michigan- Junior forward Brent Walton compiled three assists to help the Broncos run its record against Canadian schools to 43-4-4 all-time.

CCHA- The CCHA has three sets of players with identical names rostered this season. Lake Superior sophomore forward Derek Smith (now identified as Derek R. Smith) is joined by freshman defenseman Derek Smith. One player named Dan Knapp is a junior forward for Ohio State and the other is a sophomore defenseman with Nebraska-Omaha. One player named Mike Brown is a senior goalie for Ferris State and the other is a sophomore forward for Michigan.
