FERRIS AND MIAMI POST CONFERENCE WINS

At Ann Arbor, Mich., junior forward Nathan Davis notched a hat trick, including a pair of shorthanded goals to power Miami to a 4-1 win at Michigan and the RedHawks first victory at Yost Ice Arena in 21 tries. Sophomore goalie Jeff Zatkoff made 20 saves for Miami but had his shutout bid ruined by Wolverines sophomore defenseman Jack Johnson with 1:35 to go in the third period.
At Kalamazoo, Mich., freshman forward Cody Chupp assisted on rookie forward Casey Haines's goal and scored the winner for Ferris State in a 2-1 victory over Western Michigan. Bulldogs sophomore goaltender Mitch O'Keefe made 25 saves for his third straight win while Broncos junior goaltender Daniel Bellissimo made 24 saves in a losing effort. Sophomore defenseman Chris Frank scored the lone WMU goal.
At Chestnut Hill, Mass., junior forward Mark Van Guilder fired a hat trick for Notre Dame in a 7-1 victory against #1 ranked Boston College. Freshman forward Kevin Deeth and sophomore forward Erik Condra each contributed a goal and two assists each while senior goalie David Brown made 26 saves.
At Providence, R.I., junior defenseman Michael Hodgson set up three goals to lead Bowling Green to a 4-2 win over the Friars. The Falcons got goals from junior forwards Jonathan Matsumoto and Derek Whitmore, senior forward Rich Meloche and freshman forward Tomas Petruska while freshman goaltender Eddie Neville made 23 saves for the victory.
At Potsdam, N.Y., senior goaltender Jeff Jakaitis made 33 saves and Lake Superior State did all of its scoring on the power play in a 5-1 victory over Clarkson. Sophomore forward Josh Sim scored twice and junior defenseman Derek A. Smith collected three assists.
At Omaha, Neb., junior forward Matt Siddall scored the first goal and assisted on the winner by junior forward Mike Santorelli to pace Northern Michigan to a 2-1 win over Umass Lowell in the first game of the Maverick Stampede. Senior goalie Bill Zaniboni made 21 saves for the Wildcats. Nebraska-Omaha junior forward Brandon Scero set a team record by scoring four goals to lead the Mavericks to a 10-1 victory over Niagara in the second game at the Qwest Center. Senior forward Alex Nikiforuk had a goal and four assists while senior forward Nenad Gajic scored a goal and added three assists for the Mavs, the two-time defending tournament champs, who meet Northern Michigan at 7:05 p.m. tonight in final.
At Columbus, Ohio, freshman forward Mike Carman had a goal and two assists while rookie defenseman Erik Johnson tallied his first college goal to lead Minnesota to a 7-2 victory over Ohio State. Junior forward Zach Pelletier and senior forward Mathieu Beaudoin replied for the Buckeyes.
At Anchorage, Alaska, Alaska-Anchorage senior forward Justin Bourne assisted on sophomore forward Jay Beagle's game-tying goal with 15 seconds left in the third period, and then scored the game-winner in overtime to lift the Seawolves over Alaska, 6-5. Alaska freshman forward Dion Knelsen scored twice for the Nanooks and sophomore defenseman Tyler Eckford finished with a goal and two assists.
