Farmington Hills, Mich., Miami beat Ferris State 3-2 in a shootout, while Nebraska-Omaha also needed a shootout to beat Western Michigan 3-2.  Ohio State blanked Michigan State 3-0, while Lake Superior blanked Bowling Green 2-0, while Alaska topped Michigan 4-1.  In non-conference action, Notre Dame rolled by Boston College 4-1 in their rematch of last season's national championship game.

 

At Oxford, Ohio, Miami needed a shootout to beat Ferris State 3-2.  Ferris State sophomore defenseman Scott Wietecha and Miami senior forward Justin Mercier traded power-play goals in the first period for the two teams.  Ferris State junior forward Aaron Lewicki kept his point streak alive as he netted a late second period tally, bringing his streak to four games.  RedHawks sophomore forward Pat Cannone brought the RedHawks even in the third and scored the shootout winner for Miami.

 

At Columbus, Ohio, Ohio State blanked Michigan State 3-0 as three different Buckeyes netted goals in the winning effort.  Freshman forwards Matt Bartkowski and Ian Boots, along with junior forward Mathieu Picard all netted goals for the Buckeyes.  Sophomore goalie Dustin Carlson stopped all 21 shots faced in the game and improved to 2-2-0.  Ohio State peppered Spartan netminder Jeff Lerg with 49 shots in the game.

 

At Sault Ste. Marie, Mich., Lake Superior shut out Bowling Green 2-0 behind solid goaltending from sophomore netminder Brian Mahoney-Wilson.  Mahoney-Wilson stopped all 28 shots faced in the game and improved to 3-2-0 on the season.  Senior forward Josh Sim and junior forward Zac MacVoy scored for the Lakers. 

 

At Kalamazoo, Mich., Nebraska-Omaha needed a shootout to edge Western Michigan 3-2.  Western Michigan received goals from sophomore forwards Adam Flink and Max Campbell.  Nebraska-Omaha got markers from senior forward Tomas Klempa and junior forward Nicholas Fanto.  Nebraska-Omaha won the shootout 2-0 with goals from Joey Martin and Dan Charleston.

 

At Fairbanks, Alaska, Alaska scored four unanswered goals en-route to 4-1 win over Michigan.  Michigan freshman forward David Wohlberg put the Wolverines on the board first.  Alaska received goals from senior forward Adam Naglich, freshman defenseman Scott Enders, junior forward Dion Knelsen, and sophomore forward Kevin Petovello.  Senior Nanook goalie Chad Johnson stopped 28-of-29 shots in the win, improving to 3-3-1 on the season.

 

At Chestnut Hill, Massachusetts, Notre Dame beat Boston College 4-1 in a rematch of last season's NCAA championship game.  Notre Dame's goal scorers were senior forwards Garrett Regan and Christian Hanson, along with freshman forward Billy Maday and junior forward Kevin Deeth.  Irish senior netminder Jordan Pearce stopped 27-of-28 shots in the contest.
