Miami, Bowling Green and Notre Dame Have Four-Point Weekends

At Farmington Hills, Mich – Bowling Green sweeps Northern Michigan with a 2-1 win, Miami earns four points at Michigan State with a 3-1 win, and the Irish take the weekend series versus Lake Superior with a 5-2 Saturday night victory. Michigan’s Bryan Hogan stayed undefeated on the season with a 5-0 victory over Western Michigan and captain Dan Charleston reached the 100-point plateau for his career as Nebraska-Omaha doubled Ferris State, 4-2. At Bowling Green, Ohio, the Falcons sophomore forward Dan Sexton scored in the third period to give Bowling Green the 2-1 win over Northern Michigan. Junior forward Josh Boyd started off the scoring for the Falcons in the second. Northern Michigan’s sophomore forward Gregor Hanson score for the Wildcats and junior netminder Brian Stewart made 41 saves.
At East Lansing, Mich., senior forward Justin Mercier garnered a goal and an assist in leading the RedHawks to win a Michigan State, 3-1. Junior defenseman Brandon Smith scored his first goal of the season, sophomore forward Carter Camper added an empty-netter and freshman goaltender Connor Knapp made 24 saves. Sophomore forward Corey Tropp scored for the Spartans assisted by senior forward Tim Crowder. At Kalamazoo, Mich., Wolverine sophomore forward Louie Caporusso had a hat trick and an assist leading Michigan to a 5-0 shutout over Western Michigan. Sophomore goalie Bryan Hogan stayed undefeated on the year shutting out the Broncos with 20 stops. Freshman forward David Wohlberg and senior forward Tim Miller also lit the lamp and CCHA points leader sophomore forward Aaron Palushaj had two assists for the Wolverines. At South Bend, Indiana, Irish sophomore forward Calle Riderwall score a goal and got two assists in Notre Dame’s 5-2 victory over Lake Superior. The other four goal scorers for the Irish were sophomore defenseman Teddy Ruth, junior forward Christiaan Minella, senior forward Erik Condra and freshman forward Billy Maday. Lake Superior got goals from junior forward Zac MacVoy and senior forward Josh Sim; sophomore goaltender Brian Mahoney-Wilson made 34 saves. At Omaha, Nebraska, the Mavericks earned a weekend split with a 4-2 win over Ferris State. Junior forward Cody Chupp started off the scoring for Ferris State who also got a goal from senior forward Corey Couturier. Nebraska-Omaha got goals sophomore forwards Matt Ambroz and Rich Purslow, senior forward Dan Charleston, and junior forward Jeric Agosta. Charleston added an assist to become the 10th player in program history to record 100 career points. |
