At Farmington Hills, Mich., Michigan extended its winning streak to a nation-leading nine games with a 5-1 victory over Lake Superior State. Miami also won on the road, beating Michigan State 3-1. Bowling Green topped Northern Michigan 4-2 while Ferris State skated to a 5-1 win at Nebraska-Omaha and Notre Dame earned a 4-1 conference win over Western Michigan. Ohio State skated to a 5-5 non-conference tie with Robert Morris.

At Sault Ste. Marie Mich., No. 1 Michigan extended its winning streak to nine, beating Lake Superior State, 5-1 on Friday night. Senior forward Kevin Porter finished the night with two goals and an assist. The Lakers struck first on a tally from freshman forward Rick Schofield at 12:02 of the first period before Michigan scored five straight. Freshman forward Max Pacioretty tied the game for the Wolverines early in the middle frame. Porter and junior forward Travis Turnbull put UM up by two going into the second intermission. Porter netted his eleventh goal of the season on the power-play at 8:09 of the third period. Freshman forward Aaron Palushaj rounded out the scoring for the Wolverines. Junior netminder Billy Sauer made 24 saves in his tenth win of the season. The two teams will resume the weekend series at 7:05 p.m. on Saturday.

At East Lansing, Mich., No. 2 Miami scored two power-play goals in the first period to earn the win over No. 3 Michigan State, 3-1 on Friday and complete the series sweep. RedHawk junior forward Justin Mercier tallied his tenth goal of the season at 4:12 of the opening period. Freshman forward Carter Camper put MU up 2-0 just over five minutes later. The Spartans answered when junior forward Matt Schepke lit the lamp with the man-advantage at 12:20 of the first. The game remained scoreless for the next 47:12 before senior forward Ryan Jones scored an empty-netter with 27 seconds left in the game. Miami junior goaltender Jeff Zatkoff recorded 24 saves while MSU junior Jeff Lerg stopped 31 shots.

At Bowling Green, Ohio, Bowling Green senior forward Derek Whitmore netted a hat trick and an assist to lift the Falcons past Northern Michigan, 4-2. BG recorded the first three goals of the game, all in the opening frame, on two lamplighters from Whitmore and another from junior defenseman Tim Maxwell. After a scoreless second period, the Wildcats got on the board with a short-handed tally from junior forward Nick Sirota, who scored on the power-play just 1:24 later. Whitmore completed his hat trick at 16:56 of the final frame with the extra attacker. Freshman goaltender Nick Eno stopped 17 shots for his fourth win of the season. Sophomore Brain Stewart made 26 saves in the loss. The teams will meet again Saturday at 7:05 p.m.

At Omaha, Neb., eleven different players recorded points for Ferris State on Friday, as they topped Nebraska-Omaha, 5-1. The Bulldogs opened the scoring with a tally from junior forward Brendan Connolly. Freshman defenseman Scott Wietecha notched his first collegiate goal on the power-play before senior forward Mick Lawerence scored the Mavericks lone goal on the night. FSU junior forward Corey Couturier gave his team a two-goal lead heading in to the first intermission.  Bulldog sophomore forward Blair Riley found the back of the net early in the second period and junior forward J.T. Dahlinger scored in the final frame. Freshman netminder Pat Nagle made 31 saves for FSU. Junior Jerad Kaufmann and sophomore Jeremie Dupont shared time in net for the Mavs, making seven and 21 saves respectively. These two teams complete the weekend series on Sunday at 2:05 p.m.

At South Bend, Ind., Notre Dame outshot Western Michigan 44-12 to earn a 4-1 win Friday night. Irish sophomore forward Ryan Thang netted the first goal at 10:41 of the opening frame before Bronco senior forward Mike Lesperance tied the game eight minutes later. ND scored three times in the second period on a goal from senior defenseman Dan VeNard and power-play markers by junior forward Erik Condra and senior forward Mark VanGuilder, who assisted on each other's tallies. Sophomore defenseman Kyle Lawson also had two helpers for the Irish. Junior goalie Jordan Pearce stopped 11 shots while sophomore Riley Gill recorded 40 saves in the loss, including 18 in the third period. The teams will face-off again on Saturday at 7:35 p.m.

At Pittsburgh, Pa., Ohio State led by three goals on two separate occasions, but was unable to maintain the lead, skating to a 5-5 overtime tie with Robert Morris on Friday in the Pittsburgh College Hockey Showcase. Buckeye senior forward Tommy Goebel opened the scoring at 2:41 of the first period. Freshman Nathan Longpre tied the game for the Colonials on the power-play before junior defenseman Nick Biondo gave OSU the lead. The Buckeyes notched the next two goals in the middle frame, on tallies from freshman forward Kyle Reed, the first of his career, and senior defenseman Jason DeSantis. RMU answered with a score from junior Jason Towsley. OSU went up 5-2 on a marker from senior defenseman Kyle Hood. The Colonials scored three straight before the end of the second period to tie the contest. Neither team was able to find any offense in the final stanza or in overtime. Buckeye sophomore netminder Joseph Palmer made 19 saves. These two teams will travel to Columbus for the conclusion of the non-conference series on Sunday at 2:05 p.m.
