Ten Players with CCHA Ties Selected on Day Two of NHL Draft

LOS ANGELES – Ten players that either played in the CCHA this past season or have signed a National Letter of Intent to a CCHA school were selected on the second day of the 2010 NHL Draft in Los Angeles.

Jon Merrill, a defenseman that was a member of the US NTDP Under-18 Team this past season who will be playing with the Michigan Wolverines this coming season was drafted in the second round at 38th overall by the New Jersey Devils.
Incoming Notre Dame freshman defensemen Stephen Johns, another product of the US NTDP Under-18 Team, was selected in the second round with the 60th overall pick by the Chicago Blackhawks.
Another incoming Fighting Irish freshman, forward Bryan Rust, was selected in the third round at 80th overall by the Pittsburgh Penguins.
Jimmy Mullin, a forward that will play for the Miami RedHawks beginning in the 2011-12 season, was selected by the Tampa Bay Lightning in the fourth round with the 118th overall pick

Northern Michigan forward Justin Florek, who will be a junior this coming season, was picked in the fifth round and 135th overall by the Boston Bruins.

Kevin Lind, an incoming freshman defenseman for Notre Dame in 2011-12, was selected in the sixth round, 177th overall, by the Anaheim Ducks.
Michigan to-be sophomore defenseman Lee Moffie was taken by the San Jose Sharks in the seventh round at 188th overall.
Brett Perlini, who will be a junior at Michigan State, was picked in the seventh round as well. The Anaheim Ducks picked Perlini with the 192nd overall selection.
Incoming Michigan freshman forward Luke Moffatt, another US NTDP Under-18 Team member last season, was selected in the seventh round by the Colorado Avalanche with the 197th pick.
Lake Superior defenseman Zach Trotman, who will be a sophomore this season, was the final player picked on Saturday. He was picked by the Boston Bruins in the seventh round with the 210st selection.
