

2012 CCHA Tournament Champions: Western Michigan Broncos
The 2012 CCHA Tournament was redemption for Western Michigan, who fell to Miami a season ago in the championship game. This season was different for the Broncos, as they entered the tournament as the no. 3 seed and defeated Miami, 6-2, in the semifinals and then topped Michigan, 3-2, earning their first Mason Cup Trophy since 1986. Western Michigan finished the season with a 14-10-4-4 record and went undefeated in the CCHA Tournament with a 4-0 record. Western Michigan freshman goaltender Frank Slubowski captured the tournament's Most Valuable Player award and was also named to the All-Tournament Team.
