Three CCHA Players Suspended for One Game

Farmington Hills, Mich. – The Central Collegiate Hockey Association (CCHA) today announced that three players have been suspended for one game, under the league’s supplemental discipline process, as a result of incidents that occurred in a game between visiting Western Michigan University and Ferris State University on Feb. 2, 2013.
Sophomore forward Justin Kovacs of Western Michigan University has been suspended for one (1) game. The action was taken by the league after a review of an incident that occurred around the 3:28 mark of the third period and resulted in the player receiving a penalty for Tripping the Goalie. Kovacs is ineligible to play in Western Michigan’s game on Feb. 8 versus Miami. He is eligible to return to the lineup on Feb. 9.
Freshman forward Dakota Klecha of Ferris State University has been suspended for one (1) game. The action was taken by the league after a review of incidents that occurred near the 3:28 mark of the third period and resulted in the player receiving major and disqualification penalties for Contact to the Head. Klecha is ineligible to play in Ferris State’s games on Feb. 8-9 at Northern Michigan (one game for the disqualification penalty plus one game under supplemental discipline). He is eligible to return to the lineup on Feb. 15.
Senior forward Matthew Kirzinger of Ferris State University has been suspended for one (1) game. The action was taken by the league after a review of an incident that occurred near the 10:00 mark of the third period and resulted in the player receiving major and disqualification penalties for Excessive Roughness. Kirzinger is ineligible to play in Ferris State’s games on Feb. 8-9 at Northern Michigan (one game for the disqualification penalty plus one game under supplemental discipline). He is eligible to return to the lineup on Feb. 15.
