Farmington Hills, Mich. – CCHA play continues this weekend for all teams with three series featuring a match-up between two squads ranked in the USCHO.com/CBS College Sports poll.
The two CCHA teams ranked highest in the poll will meet Nov. 6 and 7 at 7:35 p.m. when No. 1 Miami takes its 6-1-1 record (CCHA, 3-1-0-0) to Ann Arbor to take on No. 4 Michigan, which stands at 4-2-0 (CCHA, 2-0-0-0). Both games will be viewable on Comcast Television channel 900. The RedHawks and Wolverines met each other four times last season with each team sweeping a home series.
No. 13 Alaska is looking to continue its success in CCHA play after picking up a series sweep last weekend. The Nanooks, behind the goaltending of RBC Financial Group CCHA Player of the Month Scott Greenham, have started the season 5-0-1 (CCHA, 2-0-0-0) and will put their unbeaten streak on the line when they welcome No. 9 Notre Dame to the Carlson Center. The Fighting Irish, who hold a record of 4-3-1 (CCHA, 1-0-1-0), shut out Alaska in the only two meetings between the teams last season, winning 2-0 and 3-0.
In the final contest between ranked teams, No. 17 Michigan State (CCHA, 3-1-0-0) hosts No. 10 Nebraska-Omaha (CCHA, 2-0-0-0) in the only Thursday/Friday series of the week. Both squads began the season outside the Top 20, but have gained some attention from the voters after combining for a 10-2-2 record overall. The Spartans have the opportunity to hand another team its first loss of the season after knocking of Miami and Western Michigan the previous two weeks.
The Broncos sit at 4-2-0 (CCHA, 0-2-0-0) after getting swept by MSU and will attempt to bounce back when 4-4-0 (CCHA, 1-3-0-0) Lake Superior visits Kalamazoo Nov. 6-7 for a pair of 7:35 p.m. starts. Northern Michigan (CCHA, 0-2-0-0) and Bowling Green (CCHA, 0-1-1-1) hit the road Friday and Saturday in an attempt to pick up their first wins in CCHA action. The Wildcats will take on Ohio State (CCHA, 1-2-1-1) while the Falcons will be in Big Rapids, Mich., to face Ferris State (CCHA, 0-2-0-0). Saturday’s contest between BGSU and FSU will begin at 5:05 p.m.
All games begin at 7:05 p.m. local time unless noted otherwise
