Farmington Hills, Mich. – The Central Collegiate Hockey Association (CCHA) today announced a pair of one-game suspensions, under the league’s supplemental discipline process, as a result of separate incidents that occurred in games on Dec. 30, 2012.
Senior forward A.J. Treais of the University of Michigan has been suspended for one (1) game. The action was taken by the league after a review of an incident that occurred near the 17:28 mark of the third period in a game against Michigan State and resulted in the player receiving major and game misconduct penalties for Contact to the Head.
Treais is ineligible to play in Michigan’s next regular-season game, Jan. 8, against Bowling Green. He is eligible to return to the lineup on Jan. 11.
Sophomore defenseman Matt Stewart of Western Michigan University has been suspended for one (1) game. The action was taken by the league after a review of an incident that occurred around the 19:29 mark of the third period in a game against Michigan Tech and resulted in the player receiving major and disqualification penalties for Hitting from Behind.
Stewart is ineligible to play in Western Michigan’s games on Jan. 4-5 at Bemidji State (one game for the disqualification penalty plus one game under supplemental discipline). He is eligible to return to the lineup on Jan. 11.
